Contestants must comply with all official rules and regulations of the Challenge, including but not limited to the strict adherence to our official standards for proper push-up form. In order for a push-up to count as an official repetition it must be executed with the correct form as defined on the exercise page. The Scoring Committee reserves the right to judge each contestant's effort to determine whether proper form was utilized for each repetition. The Committee will also judge the official repetition count for each Challenge entry. All decisions by the Scoring Committee are deemed final and not subject to appeal. As part of the Challenge, contestants are permitted to submit additional video entries throughout the competition period if they feel their performance with the PowerPack Gym has significantly improved. There are no fees associated with entering the Challenge, or in submitting one or more video entries.
Important: The PowerPack Gym has a detachable rear cover, which contestants must remove for the purpose of clearly displaying the 10lb plate and the Pack's dumbbell bars and locks in their proper positions. Failure to remove the rear cover and clearly show the weight plate in its canister while performing these push-ups will result in the disqualification of that video entry.
What happens in the event of a tie?
During the Push-Up Challenge, a leader's scoreboard will be displayed and continuously updated on the PowerPackGym.com website to show the current Challenge leaders. In the event of a tie at the conclusion of the Challenge, a playoff round will be held among those contestants judged to have the same final winning score.
The Scoring Committee will notify each finalist with the appropriate details of the playoff round. A new video entry will be required for the playoff and each participant will have up to 10 days to submit their new video. In the playoff, contestants will be required to use two 10lb weight plates for a total of 20lbs of push-up weight. The Pack's removable rear cover will again be detached to clearly display the two 10lb plates and the Pack's components all in their proper positions. Failure to do so will result in the disqualification of that playoff entry. Similar to the first round of the Challenge, the playoff round will be judged by our Scoring Committee. The Committee will score each playoff video for the greatest number of consecutive weighted push-ups done with the correct form. Contestants in the playoff round will submit their playoff video entry directly to the Scoring Committee for careful analysis to determine final score and video authenticity. The Committee again reserves the right to judge each push-up repetition for proper form and then ultimately determine the final scoring of each entry. Once a winner has been determined, all playoff round video entries will be displayed on the YouTube.com and Powerpackgym.com websites. In the event of a further tie between contestants the prize will be divided equally among the final winners.
Does it cost any money to enter the Push-Up Challenge?
No. There are no fees associated with entering the Push-Up Challenge. It's absolutely free to participate. Just have fun, get in great shape, and maybe win $5,000 at the same time. It's really that simple!
How should I prepare for the Push-Up Challenge?
Like any physical regimen you are about to undertake, it is always prudent to consult with a physician or trainer beforehand. While push-ups are extremely effective at building muscle mass in your upper body, weighted push-ups are not something most exercise enthusiasts do on a regular basis. We suggest regular training with your weighted PowerPack Gym before entering this highly challenging competition.
OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
The PowerPack Gym Push-Up Challenge is a personal fitness improvement contest conducted in the United States. The Push-Up Challenge is subject to applicable Federal and State laws and is void in states where contests of skill are prohibited. Participants must be at least 18 years of age before the date of their official Challenge video entry. The employees of Smart Fitness Products Inc. and its contractors are not eligible to participate in the "Push-Up Challenge."
Timelines and Deadlines? To enter the Push-Up Challenge you simply submit a video clip of yourself using your weighted PowerPack Gym to accomplish the highest amount of consecutive military-style push-ups. You must upload that video to YouTube. Note the link to your YouTube video and then go to the Official Entry Form and provide the contact information requested along with the link. You will receive an email confirmation that the Scoring Committee has received your Official Entry Form. If you do not receive a confirmation within 24 hours you may submit your Official Entry Form again. Smart Fitness Products will not be responsible for any lost or misdirected Entry Forms and we will not be responsible for locating any individual participants in the "Challenge."
How will you be judged? The Push-Up Challenge Scoring Committee will judge all entries. Judging will be based solely on the number of continuous repetitions of proper military-style push-ups done with your weighted PowerPack Gym. By 'continuous repetitions' we mean there will be no resting between push-up repetitions. A proper repetition will be judged according to the strict military standard as defined on the Exercise page on this site. In addition, the Official Entry Form must contain all the required information and be submitted in a time and manner that is compliant with the Timelines and Deadlines as outlined above. It is that simple!! Finally, no mechanical or other assistance is allowed in the execution of a push-up. No video enhancements or editing of clips in any way is permitted. If the Scoring Committee detects any video manipulation of the clip, the entry will be immediately disqualified. Challenge contestants may not use anabolic steroids or strength-enhancing prescription drugs or medications unless prescribed by a physician to treat an existing medical condition and the medical condition must be noted on the Official Entry Form. The winner of the Challenge will be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility. Any violations to any of these terms of this Challenge will result in immediate disqualification. The official Challenge winner, or those individuals involved in a tie, will be announced on Jan. 4, 2009. Taxes on winnings will be the sole responsibility of the winner(s).
Who is Eligible to Compete in the Push-Up Challenge?
Push-Up Challenge contestants must be 18 years of age or older to compete. The PowerPack Gym Push-Up Challenge is subject to all applicable federal and state laws and is void in States where skills contests are prohibited. By participating, you agree to accept these Official Rules and the decision of the judges, who decisions are final and binding in all respects. By entering the Push-Up Challenge you also agree to release, discharge, and hold harmless Smart Fitness Products, Inc. its officers, employees, agents, contractors, and internet agencies from any and all damages whether direct or indirect, which may be due to, or arise from, participation in the Challenge or acceptance of a prize. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited under such law, rule, or regulation.
Regulations and Requirements Smart Fitness Products, Inc. reserves the right to interpret and, if necessary, amend the rules at its discretion without prior notice to the contestants of the Challenge. Each Push-Up Challenge participant assumes all risk of injury, harm or loss of any kind arising from participation in the Push-Up Challenge. Always consult a physician before starting any new exercise program. If you are inexperienced with strength training you should consult a qualified trainer.
Challenge participants must notify Smart Fitness Products of any change of address or phone number. Potential winners who can not be located at the address or phone number identified in the Official Entry Form will be disqualified.
Acceptance of the prize constitutes permission to use your name, likeness and video submission, in any form, in whole or in part, for purposes of public relations, promotional advertising, in any and all media forums, without limitation and without further compensation, unless prohibited by local law. All material submitted as part of the Challenge becomes property of Smart Fitness Products, Inc. and will not be returned.
PRIZES: One Push-Up Challenge champion will receive the Grand Prize of $5,000 cash, except in the event of a tie at the conclusion of the playoff round where those tied will split the cash prize. The top 25 finishers will receive an official Push-Up Challenge tee-shirt. No transfer of prizes is permitted. All federal, state, and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner(s). The cash prize will be paid out within 30 days of the conclusion of the Challenge. As a condition of participating in this Challenge, participants agree to settle all disputes individually, without resort to any form of legal or class action, and exclusively by final and binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Under no circumstances will any participant be permitted to obtain awards, damages, fees, or out-of-pocket expenses. |
